Savannah oats has a combination of key attributes to provide reliable winter forage in northern Australian environments. Late summer/early autumn sowing opportunities, providing late season growth, rapid regrowth after grazing and suitable for hay/silage production in early spring. Savannah is suitable for use in both dryland and irrigated farming conditions providing high quality leafy forage.
Savannah oats was selected after numerous screenings for resistance to all Australian pathotypes of leaf and stem rust and Barley Yellow Dwarf Virus (BYDV).
